Case Study | Hitachi R&D Challenge
Hitachi used Thinkable to promote their brand and source R&D projects for partnership.
Hitachi is a global engineering, technology & infrastructure company.
Hitachi was looking to better engage with top universities & start-ups to find the best projects across 4 categories of innovation important to their business within ANZ: Smart Agriculture; Connected Health; Mining and Smart Cities.
Via Thinkable, Hitachi hosted an innovation award with a seed prize pool budget of $15,000.
Via their hosted challenge site, Thinkable engaged top engineering schools & researchers across ANZ and invited them to apply as part of the Hitachi challenge. Overall 77 submissions, videos and prototype ideas were submitted. In order to drive wider visibility and engagement, a small people’s choice award attracted over 60,000 people to participate & vote in part of the awards. Although the overall winning team was chosen by an expert panel, the challenge allowed the Hitachi R&D team to efficiently learn about all entries which sparked collaborations with the most relevant to their current innovation objectives.
